being free, being wild, being bulletproof(BACK THEN WE WERE REBELS WITHOUT A CLUE)____________________
She let out a low groan as she lugged all of her bags plus the tent down the gravel path and toward where the dark arts class would be breaking them up in pairs. The whole idea of camping outside was enough to put the brown haired beauty over the edge. She certainly didn't want to sleep outside on the ground in the forest where creatures that weren't even registered with the ministry could lurk. She wanted to wake up in her comfy bed and then be able to fall back asleep. Or better yet, wake up next to an attractive boy like she did last Saturday morning. Waking up with a cold would be better then camping outdoors, in her opinion. This had to be against some rules or regulation. Just wait until her father heard about this field trip. He would go absolutely nuts to know that the professors at this school were letting kids, let alone his daughter, stay outside in the forest practically unwatched and unprotected. Her father would pop a vein if he saw his baby girl. Of course, Lux Nott would never admit that she was worried about this camping adventure. In fact she would put on a sly grin and continue on with her trudging forward, because she was her father's daughter and she didn't crack easily. Though she was sure if they continued this "walk" (which was more like a hike) any longer she would pull out her wand and hex the professor. It was then that the professor said they were nearing the clearing to break off, and that she had already chosen the pairs. Lux, and she was sure many other students as well, mumbled under her breath but was thankful that they were almost there.
Camping was bad enough, but the heat on this extremely rare May day was excruciating. Unlike the days previous to this one, the weather was hot and humid. With no rain to wash out the sticky air, she was left to hike with her hair in the messiest bun, no bathroom, and looking utterly unattractive. Disheveled, with hair falling loose and around her face from her bun, Lux let out another sigh and let all her bags collapse to her feet as she stood in the clearing. Their professor arrived and barked out commands that Lux was a bit too disoriented to follow. Though, she didn't really understand why, she got a lot of physical activity from playing quidditch. It must have been the heat, that was her only excuse. It was only until her name was called that she snapped back into reality. "Lux Nott," she read off her list, "You're with Colton Bastiene." Lux let her green eyes wander to the handsome boy in her year, one she hadn't really gotten to know, nor really paid much attention to. She figured in a way that was good because if it had been on of the lads she slept with, the night would have probably been a bit awkward or maybe a bit more entertaining, depending on what kind of terms they were on. However she didn't really know Colton, though she didn't really understand why. She gave a small smile, before picking up all of her stuff off the ground, regretting all of the luggage that she packed, before moving toward Colton. "Well, let's get a move on, I wasn't really paying attention but I guess we set up camp a little to the east, or was it west? Eh whatever, I've never been good with directions, lets just get there," she said, probably coming off a bit snobbish, but in reality it was just the heat talking.Hopefully as soon as they set up camp and she was able to relax, she'd finally grow a bit nicer, which would lead to a better trip for the two of them. "Have you ever been camping before?" She asked him, hoping to whatever God there was above, that he had been.

Camping. Two days. One night. In the Forbidden Forest. Colton was beyond pleased with that. He had spent half of his fifth and sixth year in detention out here. He knew the forest better than most of the professors. It was an advantage point. He was sick of know-it-all seventh years who academically treated him like he had the intelligence of a troll. He would complete the camp first. He would succeed in being first. Now, don't go thinking Colton Bastiene was power hungry. He had all the power he wanted. His Veela blood insured that. All the seventeen year old desired was a little respect concerning his intelligence. Which was far beyond any of theirs. He just didn't go around bragging. So this was it. A chance to tear them apart. Academically of course. People never noticed, but Colton was incredibly smart. He didn't speak about it. The intelligence was simply there. But not without hard work. Never without hard work. Despite his love of social gatherings and raging parties. The seventh year always had time for the library. Another method of losing himself in something other than reality. An escape without a drug. A wormhole without a name.
“Lux Nott. You're with Colton Bastiene.” The blue eyed boy raised his dark eyebrows. This was an improvement. Usually Colton was either paired with someone who believed they had already failed being partnered with someone as reckless as himself. Or someone who came second in a 'Which is More Interesting' competition. Watching paint dry always won. But this was Luxx Nott. A girl he knew of but didn't really know. He knew she was gorgeous. That was obvious. Colton also knew she came from a wealthy, powerful, pureblood family. Much like his own. And like most wealthy pureblood families, they seemed set on the ideology of world domination or some shit like that. Still, she seemed like she was the type of girl to love a good time. And he was exactly that. A good time. Colton flashed his sly signature smirk at Lux before picking up his duffle bag and swinging it over his shoulder. Colton's long legs had taken him forward in long strides. Allowing him to be a head of the pack. This was why, when walking next to Lux, he took slower steps that brought them in line.
Each team, or partners, was to camp in a different direction. This camping spot was what their Professor called there Base Camp. Colton had to smile at that. How serious the Professors took it. From there Base Camp each team would receive owls, explaining the next challenge. But that was in the morning, for now, the challenge was to get there. Before the sun set so that setting up the tents and so fourth wouldn't be a struggle in the darkness of the Forbidden Forest. The dark haired male listened to his partner talk. She was blunt and got straight to the point. He never imagined Lux Nott to be so bold. She always seemed so sweet and delicate. A delicate flower. A smile graced his lips as he began to reply, ”No, I've never been camping before. But that isn't the challenge. We'll be fine. Just relax and have some fun.” And with that, he winked. Colton started to fumble around his pockets feeling around for his cigarettes. ”A huh! He exclaimed upon finding them. He took out his lighter. A muggle invention that he couldn't get enough of. Lighters just made everything that much more fun. He stuck a fag between his lips and lit up the cancer stick. Colton made sure they were out of the Professor's range before doing so.
“So, Miss Nott, you're looking a little worn out.” He grinned. Lux Nott was the type of girl who always seemed to look perfect. Never a hair out of place or a smeared spot of make up. Now, Lux still looked beyond gorgeous, but she also looked tired and a little worn out. Colton liked seeing her like this. He didn't know her. But it made her seem more real to him. Like she wasn't made out of plastic or some perfectly programmed robot.

being free, being wild, being bulletproof(BACK THEN WE WERE REBELS WITHOUT A CLUE)____________________
Lux Nott was not an outdoor girl. The only two things she liked to do outdoors was play qudditch and party. Other then that, outside was a place she didn't really venture unless it was for good old bewildered fun. So camping was something that would take her out of her eliment. The only good thing that this trip offered was a good dose of competition. If there was anything that Lux liked it was winning. She liked to be the best and proving that she could do anything she set her mind to. When someone looked at her, they didn't see anything but a pretty face. Quidditch was something that allowed her to bring shock to people's faces. She was much more then a girl with good fashion taste and exceptional pureblood genes. She could be a rough a tumble girl with the rest of the boys, she just cleaned up nicer. She was a put together girl, most of the time, but just the thought about being in a forest full of Hogwarts scariest creatures put her over the edge. Thankfully she knew a good couple of curses and spells that could protect her. She'd never been tested in a way as great as this one. She could only hope that she would make it out with out a scratch on her. The only word that kept her going was winning. She needed to win, desired to win, if only for the title and the glory. Sometimes that's all Lux wanted. To be recognized as more then her father's daughter and more then 'that slytherin bitch,' or the 'pretty' girl. She had a heart but only a small deal of people ever saw the passion she had.
It was when Colton gave her a devious smirk that Lux knew this camping trip was going to get a whole lot better. However, it was keeping up with him that would be the problem, as her five foot six frame was no match for his taller frame and longer legs. When she finally caught up, or when he slowed down, she got a chance to look at the other half to her team. It was then, and only then, that Lux smiled for the first time that day. He was gorgeous, a man who looked that he came from proper pureblood line such as herself, but more then that, he looked at ease, which was something that put a calming spell over Lux. Knowing that he was composed made her relax and slowly realize that she wasn't going to be dead by morning. Though Lux did curiously wonder why she hadn't seen him before, why their families did connect when she was younger. It didn't matter much now, because as she looked over at Colton to hear his words, she knew that these two nights would allow them to get to know one another. The night, which was still young, was surely going to be an interesting one.
He hadn't been camping before, but she wouldn't have known by the way he was acting. He must have been someone who spent a whole lot of time out in the forest. He told her not to worry, and she rolled her eyes lightly. Was it really that easy for him to tell that she was worried and a tad bit anxious? She had some practice to do on the fear hiding front, "I'll have fun when we get there." She spoke her tone smooth, as the sun was slowly beginning to drop and allow a cool bit of air to settle over the forest. then she watched as he took the cigarettes from his pocket. A smirk fell across her lips as she looked back to see that their professor had fallen out of view. Then he spoke, a statement that she was sure was true, but stung her inside a bit.
"Oh shut up and give me one of those," she said holding out her hand for a cigarette before he put them away and she'd loose her chance. She needed something, and since she couldn't reach the whiskey in her luggage at the given moment, the cigarette would have to do. "And don't give me that patronizing look. Yes, Lux Nott smokes, so light it up," she gave a small laugh. If she knew anything, she knew exactly what was going through his head. How different she must seem to people who didn't know her. How composed and serene she must seem to onlookers and how crazy and wild she might seem to the people who actually did. "As for my looks, it's been a long hot day. You'll have to excuse me for looking like some creature you'd find out here in the forest, " She continued to move forward, letting her eyes look for their spot. "I think here will do, what do you think?" She'd hope he wouldn't argue, she didn't exactly want to go much further, and probably wouldn't even if he wanted to continue on. So with that she dropped her bags and rummaged for the tent she'd brought along.

One thing Colton Bastiene thrived off was passion. The seventeen year old displayed a strong, burning passion for anything he adored. From messing around the Quidditch Pitch to chasing the girl of his dreams. The passion was simply there. It seemed to shine from every pore in Colton's tall body. If the people around Colton were not passionate, the boy found himself on a bit of a down. But when he was around passionate people, Colton was the most inspiring, interesting person in the room. The dark haired male already liked his new partner. She was passionate. By now he could tell who was and who wasn't. Maybe it was the way Lux Nott held herself. Strong and feminist like. He could tell a sexist joke wouldn't go down well with the green eyed girl. Maybe it was her seemingly sweet desire to cause as much trouble to the Professor as humanly possible. Colton defiantly found that an appealing trait. It could have been the fact that Lux was more tired then she led on, but continued to troop on. She wasn't going to let anybody know she was tired. But upon getting out of the general classes vision, he noticed the slowing pace of her step. And the laggard, slight hunch of her back. She was stubborn. That was a given. Colton was perfectly content to set up camp here, but to his amusement he continued on. Some part of the seventeen year old knew Lux might have been waiting for himself to say something. But Colton found it way more entertaining to see how much further she could go before finally giving in to her weary body. So, they continued on, Colton's lips set in a teasing grin as the two of them continued to climb over the thick tree roots and avoid the small but dangerous ditches in the forests' lush floor.
“Pantronizing? Hardly.” Colton slipped the cancerous stick between the girl's petite fingers. He had to laugh at how she said 'light me up.' Lux seemed so innocent and the words coming from her mouth were anything but. ”I have to admit. I thought you were a sweet, innocent flower.” The seventeen year old admitted, rising his dark eyebrows as he took out his red lighter and light the cigarette with ease of doing so a hundred times before. ”I haven't even been around you for twenty minutes and you're already surprising me.” Surprising Colton Basiene was a bit of a challenge. He didn't like to put label people or anything like that, but the majority of Hogwarts seemed to do it for him. The seventeen year old believed that people needed to fill a stereotype to know who they were. He hated this. He wasn't anyone that he could sum up in a word. Jerk. Bitch. Player. Airhead. All stereotypes that soceity seemed to mold themselves into. They all made a first impression, whether it was who they truly were or who they pretended to be. This is where Lux Nott differed from the rest of Hogwarts. She had her stereotype, but she defied it with her attitude.
The handsome boy turned to Lux, his blue eyes widening and a mocking smile falling into his full lips. He placed his pale hands on his parnter's tiny shoulders and finally said, “You can scare away all the dangerous things in here with your creatureness!” He laughed. Despite Colton's cool, calm yet party-animal like personality, he was probabily the biggest dork in Hogwarts. He was the King of Corniness. He loved to say, 'Corny makes the world go around.' Which only ensured people he defiantly was a dork. Colton smiled, and looked at Lux. “Sweetheart, its not a fashion show. Besides, you don't have anything to worry about. You look beautiful.” The handsome male answered honestly and finished his statement with a wink.
Colton looked back at Lux as she stopped in her tracks. Her next statement didn't surprise him. But he admired her for carrying on for so long. He was tired too. Colton looked around the forest. Every direction looked exactly the same. He knew it would be extremely easy to get lost in such a place. And the Forbidden Forrest was no place any witch or wizard wanted to get lost in. “Looks perfect.” He said, and looking around it really did. Lux couldn't have stopped at a more perfect spot. The surface floor was mostly free of small ditches that they could have easily broken their ankles in, the ground was as flat as it could possibly be and it was also close to what Colton thought was a small stream. The seventeen year old laughed and raised his eyebrows once more. He watched with amusement as the green eyed girl revealed the tent. “Well, it looks cozy.” If Colton was as small as Lux, there would not have been a problem, however Colton was 6'1. Lux Nott only reached his shoulder. This camp would be interesting at the least. “Lets get this thing set up shall we?”
