we’re looking up * - - at the same night sky. What had he done? He literally laughed out loud to himself as he climbed the steps to the astronomy tower, not truly sure of why he was heading up onto the tower. In fact, he wasn’t quite sure about anything. Declan had just come from an abandoned classroom somewhere on the sixth floor where he had met up with some fiery fifth year. It hadn’t gone very far, just a nice little snog, but still. He just prayed that, come tomorrow, she wouldn’t be following him like a puppy. You could never tell with the younger girls. He hardly knew her, but she had practically jumped his bones. He was a man after all, he wasn’t going to decline such an offer.
Why worry about it though? The statement was his philosophy on life. Declan hardly worried about a thing, and he preferred it that way. As he made his way on to the top of the tower, he decided that he definitely wasn’t going to worry about it. He wouldn’t be a prick if the girl approached him, but he would set one thing clear: he didn’t want any sort of commitment. Declan had always been like that. Since before he could remember he hated the idea of responsibility. He didn’t want to do his chores, he never had a pet to care for, and he rarely did his schoolwork. His mother constantly nagged him about it, but in his mind, he just never wanted to grow up. There was nothing wrong with that.
Still unsure of why he had gone to the tower instead of the common room, he made his way to the edge, looking up at the clear, spring sky. He wasn’t even sure of the time. He assumed it was late, much later than curfew. But he didn’t care. There wasn’t much he hadn’t done in terms of breaking the rules at Hogwarts. Leaning against the cool stones that made up the entirety of the castle, he smirked to himself, thinking over how much he truly loved Hogwarts. It was his home away from home. It had always held a special place in his heart. He wasn’t sure how he would handle it when he had to part with the castle.
Not that he had any idea of what to do with his life. It was a topic he normally avoided. He didn’t want to talk about his future, ever. A job? Nah. Getting married and settling down? No way. Being an adult? Don’t think so. Instead, Declan adopted the attitude where he simply ignored the fact that he was constantly getting older and growing up. It was only in the quiet times, such as this, that the thoughts crept up out of nowhere and he felt panicked and worried.
Looking up at the sky, he pushed the thoughts away. There wasn’t a need to worry about any of this at that moment. It was too nice a night, too perfect. Not wearing his robes, Declan leaned against the wall, placing his back against the stones. Running a hand through his arguably messy hair, he let his blue green eyes travel through the sky, picking out certain stars and constellations he had learned about during his years at school.

Elise Dubois was not like other girls. Not matter how much she fought for that average girl next door type daily she already knew it was a fight that she would loose no matter what she did. See most would come to think she believed that for the whole 'veela' blood she had going on. But truthfully it wasn't that. Sure she knew she could stand out in a crowd, she could charm some men into thinking they wanted to do things for her - or simply make them fall at her feet. But she never used it. Unlike her youngest sister and many girls Elise wanted respect from men. She wanted someone to serenade her, make her fall in love, have a wedding. She didn't want to sleep around, climb the social ladder or build a bad reputation for herself. She wanted respect, but not a lot of respect was given in this era or age. So to be average meant you had to open your legs and have a boyfriend or a few fuck buddies, go out drinking and fail in classes. Elise couldn't allow herself to do that. So she would never be average and no doubt the days of being labelled fridgid weren't long gone.
It was rare to find Miss Dubois however roaming the castle late at night. Usually she went to bed early after ensuring her bag was packed for the following morning of lessons, or she'd caught up on all her homework ready for the following monday. So to find her straying from the ravenclaw tower was a rare occurance. Where she was heading, well even Elise couldn't answer that. On her rare late night strolls she would be wandering the corridors or grounds allowing her feet to lead her to where they wanted to go. It was just so much easier to wander round with her head in the clouds rather than actually decide on somewhere to go until she was far too tired to stay awake. Although she'd never really slept anywhere other than the ravenclaw tower there was always the fight with herself to move or not and just sleep where she dropped.
On her way around the castle she spotted a flushed fifth year heading down from the floor above. She resisted shaking her head disapprovingly at her and continued up a floor. Of course she knew the girl had probably been up to no good with some other fellow classmate or something. The sixth floor was popular for that with the many unused classrooms and such. And with hormones flying around the school like there was no tomorrow it was pretty common to wander past someone who'd gone for some quickie in the bathrooms or simply had been up to no good.
She came to her final choice however. The towers - or above to the top floor of hogwarts. Her legs paused for a moment whilst she pondered over her final destination. The astronomy tower had always been a faveroite of hers. The stars seemed like a romantic setting for her to just sit and read in. The only problem was she didn't exactly have a faveroute novel to share with the night. She sighed slightly before deciding to go ahead to the tower. Just for a nice calm atmosphere. She didn't expect to find anyone up there - she just made her way up the steps, opening the old rotting door into the sparkly room. Her eyes almost instantly fell on Declan Abercrombie gazing out.
"well hello Dec" she greeted before heading over a little closer to him. "what brings you up here at this time?" she added casually.

Declan wasn’t as bad as nearly half the guys in the school. Most of them were hooking up with several different girls and sleeping with all of them. Declan wouldn’t dream of doing something along those lines. He was just a charming guy. He enjoyed the company of anyone at all. He wasn’t going to deny pretty women if they were going to talk to him. But, he didn’t want to hurt anyone. He wasn’t into that. At the moment, he had one girl that he hooked up with now and again, and even if he said he didn’t, he knew that deep down, he did have feelings for her. Other than that, he didn’t deal much with girls. He didn’t want to hurt them. He wasn’t looking for any sort of relationship. He isn’t going to the knight in shining armor that rides in and sweeps them off their feet. That just would never be him, so he refuses to give anyone the false impression that he is looking for anything more.
There’s always an underlying reason for anything. Declan had many underlying reasons for why he ignored feelings he had to anyone, or for why he didn’t want to be in a relationship. His father. That arrogant prick had cheated on his saint of a mother and ran off with his new family. After seeing what his mother had gone though, Declan knew he would never be able to believe in love again. When he loved someone, you did not destroy them, the way he had seen his mother be destroyed. It wasn’t that Declan was that bitter anymore about the actual concept of love. If people wanted to say they loved one another, he wasn’t going to be the one dancing around proclaiming that they were wrong. He just simply knew in the back of his mind that it wasn’t real. To Declan, love is merely a made up word, a fictional feeling that is used to describe lust, want, and desire.
And he wasn’t going to willingly allow someone else to have the authority to destroy him. He would never be able to give his heart away, regardless of whether or not he believed in the institution of love. He was too proud and stubborn for that. He would give no one the opportunity to ruin his entire world. Declan was plagued with these thoughts, for who knows what reason. He needed to escape it all. His thoughts often haunted him nowadays, a dangerous idea to him. He was carefree, fun, and easygoing. He didn’t have worries! Looking up at the night sky, he proceeded to allow the heavy thoughts to clear his mind. He felt himself relaxing instantly. This little excursion had been exactly what he had needed, perhaps minus the fifth year. But, that was something he was no longer thinking of.
His thoughts were further broken by the sound of someone opening the door to the tower. Turning towards the doorway, he was pleasantly surprised by the figure that emerged from behind it. It was none other than Elise Dubois. The beautiful girl made her way towards him, and he couldn’t help but smile. Yes, she was only a friend, but he adored her. Not only was she beautiful, but she was wonderful girl. Declan honestly could say that he cared for him, not necessarily in a romantic way. It was more of a brotherly feeling. She came to him with advice about almost anything, and he was always happy to indulge. They had a healthy, friendly relationship. He could honestly say that he was happy to see her as she walked closer to him, breaking the silence with her words.
Admiring her in the moonlight, he responded. “Hey there, Ms. Dubois.” He paused, crossing his arms over his chest and turning so that he was facing her. “I think the better question is what are you doing up here at this hour?” Declan knew Elise fairly well, and never once had he encountered her out of bed and roaming the castle after hours. Therefore, he was surprised to find her there tonight. All the same, he was happy to see her. He hadn’t seen her in a few days, and it would be nice to catch up with her. He had a feeling that if she knew where he had come from before the towers, he would receive a playful scold. That was merely how their relationship worked.
ooc: I’m too lazy to make it pretty right now XD
