overall history:
Everyone knows of the story of Harry Potter and how he came to meet Ginny Weasley. Of course, they were married and had three children. One of these children, James Sirius Potter, is the person of whom's history we will be discussing in this part of the application.
First, let's start with the name. The name 'James' was brought about from Harry's own father. It was, of course, Harry's father's first name. James' middle name, Sirius, was from Harry's father's best friend, and Harry's godfather. James Potter, the first, and Sirius Black were both killed defending the ones they loved. This has a significant impact on James Potter, the second, because he was told at a young age of how his name had come to be. At the age of five, his father explained to him what each of his names stood for, and how important the people he was named after were. From that day forward, whenever James says his name, he can feel chills spiking the hairs across his arms and legs.
Now, there is much more to the famous James Sirius Potter than his name. When James was born, Harry and Ginny were thrilled. They knew they wanted more than one child, but were extremely thrilled to have James enter their lives. They were moving from a period of time where everything and everyone around them seemed to be disappearing. It was nice, for once, to be able to celebrate not a loss of life, but gain. James was born on June 5th of 2003, almost eighteen years ago. Shortly after, his siblings, Albus and Lily, arrived as well. They completed the Potter family, and made Harry and Ginny feel thoroughly pleased with themselves. They were finally going to get the chance to lead normal lives, with children to coddle and watch grow. Harry was especially excited, because he was going to be able to give his children the one thing he didn't have - parents.
When James was merely five, when his father told him how significant his name was, he was building a treehouse. His father realized how much James loved to climb trees, and figured making a treehouse would be an excellent idea for the child. It was a special experience that James enjoyed with his father, which also made it become the image he uses to conjure his patronus, which takes the form of a doe. James and his siblings used the treehouse for several years, quite frequently using the place as a spot for picnics with their parents. Even though James shared his sacred place with his other family members, he knew the treehouse would be significantly special to him and his father both.
For James' eleventh birthday, in celebration of not only his birthday but his acceptance into Hogwarts, Harry and Ginny got Hermione and Ron to watch Albus and Lily. They wanted to make sure James felt really special for his birthday, that they were completely proud of him not just as one of their children, but as their son in general. Instead, though, the birthday celebration was interrupted. As someone broke into their house, Harry and Ginny ushered James into the enclosed library as they went to see what was going on. James was safe inside the library, which was protected by many spells. However, his parents weren't safe. He stayed in there all night, wondering where his parents were. The next morning, Hermione came and got him from the library, and explained to him that his parents had been killed.
From that day forward, James felt totally responsible for the death of his parents. He should have tried harder to make them stay in the library with him. James moved into the Weasley household and was raised by them from that point on, with his siblings. He almost didn't want to go to Hogwarts the following September, but Hermione and Ron urged him to do so. He did, and was sorted into Gryffindor. He felt that it was honorable to be in such a house, seeing as his parents had been in that very house when they went to school, as did his uncle and aunt that he now resided with.
James tried to move on with his life. He did everything in the name of his parents. He tried out for the Quidditch team and made it as Seeker, making himself even more proud as he followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather. James is forever hurt by the death of his parents, but feels like he needs to avenge their murders. He has become a stronger person because of what he has been through, but has a complicated personality. He is scared to be alone, to be left alone. But he is also scared to love anymore, out of fear that he will have to experience the pain of losing the ones he loves again. That very thing is what has made him one of the most protective members of his family. He constantly looks out for his family members, and acts like the leader of them. Don't mess with James Sirius Potter, because there's far more to him than just a powerful name.

role play sample:Aberforth remained still as the door to his study opened. Appearing before his eyes was his brother's friend and colleague, Kingsley Shacklebolt. Aberforth had many conversations, which some turned into arguments naturally, with his brother Albus, who remained inside his painting, about bringing in Kinglsey. Aberforth knew that Kingsley was a great man, and especially one who regarded his brother on the highest of terms. He was a man of dignity and strength, who had battled more death eaters than Aberforth could count on both hands. Still, he wasn't sure if he could give away the post of Deputy Headmaster to someone he didn't know quite so well.
Still, when he thought about it, Aberforth knew Kingsley rather well, actually. Since the death of his brother and the downfall of Lord Voldemort, Kingsley had been in and out of Aberforth's life fairly frequently. In fact, it wasn't extremely awkward for them to get together for a fire whiskey, or even a late lunch. They often conversed of Albus and his days as Headmaster, and how Aberforth felt about taking his place. Some of their conversations weren't particularly pleasant, and some of them even turned to Aberforth disapparating angrily. Still, in the end, Aberforth had to admit that his brother was right - he needed someone.
Something was certainly coming toward Hogwarts, and its strength was building over the days. Aberforth couldn't be certain that Hogwarts was safe, despite the many defensive spells and other precautionary matters that had been set in place. He needed someone to be there beside him should something go wrong. He knew that despite the many internal conflicts about it, that Kingsley Shacklebolt, ex-Minister, was the man to stand beside him.
As Kingsley moved into his office, Aberforth grinned. His mood instantly changed. This was why they actually got along, really. Aberforth seemed to become more open with Kingsley than any other person he'd ever met. Sure, since the triumph over Lord Voldemort, Aberforth had taken a turn for the better. He became more welcoming of people into his life - but not like he did with Kingsley. Aberforth put out his hand to the ex-Minister and motioned him to sit.
"I need your help....with Hogwarts. Kingsley, today I request of you to be my Deputy Headmaster. Something is coming, I know it. Albus and I have discussed the possibilty of a new dark lord or mistress on the rise, and the rumors are indeed true. I need you to be here when Hogwarts goes down."
