overall history:
victoria elizabeth anderson was born in the middle of june, on a hot and muggy night in stratford, england. her parents were both young at the time, stereotypically young and stupid. her mother, victoria, had come from a middle class family from a port city on the beach. peter, her father, came from money and grew up in a very wealthy politician household. he was on the rise in england, becoming a hotshot day by day. making enough money for the entire family, victoria became a stay at home historian, writing books about topics that interested her, and apparently many others by the sales records. being at home helped her care for her daughter, that is if she had really chosen to. with the money to hire a nanny, she did so, and little victoria elizabeth grew up knowing the woman who cared for her more than her mother. this nanny played a good mommy though, and little victoria didn't have much to complain about.
as she grew up, she began to show signs of strange abilities. her father, rarely home, took no notice to it, while her mother was becoming concerned. hosting parties more often than not, she was trying to keep her daughter seen as little as possible, for fear that the lights would flicker, or that someone's wine glass would shatter at the table when she was in the room. she kept this all a secret, from everyone save for her husband and the nanny. she was about nine when the 'problem' caused a scene during a party her mother was having with the politician's wives. the nanny had turned her back to clean some dishes and little victoria had wandered, bored, into the parlor. the women were laughing about something, and when her mother caught her in the room, the glare was enough to make victoria start. her own surprise clashed with her magic, and caused a blackout in the entire house. luckily, it could be passed off as a faulty power line, but both victoria and her mother knew who was responsible.
at age eleven, victoria received her letter from hogwarts. the letter was brought by a wizard from the school, explaining the situation and handing victoria her acceptance letter. victoria was all too pleased, excited by the prospect of something more. her mother was concerned, but at least relieved by an explanation. more interested in the study of the magical world's history than she was in her daughter actually being a witch, she delved into her books and demanded that victoria buy some when she went school shopping. her father found out a month or so later, having been gone for quite awhile. he missed his daughter's leaving for hogwarts, not that it made much of a difference to victoria anyway. the train that brought her freedom also brought her an entire new world to explore. she was all the more excited to get away from her stuffy life as a renowned politician's daughter. her years at hogwarts went by quickly, and she didn't much like going home during the summer months. she made friends, but never had any over- or talked about her family much. she keeps a lid on her muggle life, waiting for the right person to spill the beans to. she is now in her seventh year, and planning to move out and live somewhere in hogsmeade.

role play sample:oh there he went again. he called her lucy. blinking large blue eyes, the blond was ripped from reality back to her memories of a little louise. her sister was so young and yet so much forced into the lifestyle of the political and posh. when anger crept into tobias's voice as he continued, she paused in thought. well, she supposed that history showed this, but it was not her family's responsibility to adapt. "oh, well, while i suppose that is true, i would feel awful to have my family change and adapt for my sake." she said, trying to be fair. deep down she knew that what tobias was saying was true, though she didn't want to take that road just yet. as much as she wanted change, when faced with it, she balked like a deer in headlights. she tried not to take it personally, but with no one to relate to, she felt blamed. she shook her head lightly, fighting the thought process that began spinning out of control, as it seemed to do around tobias. in her own little civil war, she was forced to cease fire when the dark haired boy spoke again, sounding uncertain of himself. she reached up to tuck a stray lock of hair behind her ear, and felt her face flush red as her gaze slid to stare out the window. well, what was she to say about that? it would be improper to say something that went against the brightside family belief system. yet, she found herself wanting to say that improper phrase anyway.
"i think, she paused, blinking slowly and letting her chin fall a little bit, though her shoulders stayed stoically stiff. "that sometimes mother is wrong. marriage should be up to the witch and wizard." it was the first time she had ever said anything to defy her mother's will, and her voice was quiet and somewhat wavering. her shoulders now seemed to shrink on on themselves, and she appeared smaller than ever, as if trying to disappear in fear that a lightning bolt would smite her from the sky. she turned away from the window, her gaze level despite the quiver in her voice. for once, she felt like a gryffindor. for saying something that no one in her family could. "ah, but i have had time to worry and get my head together with my problems. yours on the other hand are new to me." she said, lifting her chin once more as her gaze sparked like a clear blue fire. the flame in her gaze softened as tobias stuttered out the next few words. for a moment lucinda felt as if the world was at war. mother was shouting in her ear, father was lifting his hand, jeanette was scowling and turning her back, and louise just stared at her with those big and round eyes. she ought to say no, everything told her to say no. but no matter how many times she repeated that in her head, she felt her lips form the word: "yes." she smiled a little bit, looking less confident by the second. "i'll go with you."
