overall history: Oliver Wood and Alicia Spinnet were married soon after the wizarding world seemed to catch fire. Of course, that didn’t stop them from having children though they were utterly terrified that something would happen to their children. They steered clear of any conflict and made sure to protect their house in every way imaginable. Once things died down, they removed some of the charms and once against let their children out into the world to enjoy life, especially at Hogwarts where they had grown up.
The first child born into their family was Cain. He was a bit of a surprise because they hadn’t originally planned to have children so soon. It was only a year later though that they had two more children, twins. And because of this, Cain always felt a bit left out. So at an early age he took up to following his father around every place that he could. He would constantly ask questions about Hogwarts and the stories that his father had to tell of the place. The fact that his father had known Harry Potter personally always floored Cain absolutely. He couldn’t imagine having played on the same quidditch team with the guy who saved the entirety of the wizarding world.
Cain was five when his father bought him his first broom. It was a toy broom that barely lifted off the ground but Cain couldn’t have been more excited. He rubbed it in the faces of his younger siblings, who then of course ran off to their mom to tattle. Cain was his fathers son and there was no doubt about that. He took after him in almost every way though his looks were a bit different. He was in love with flying and nothing else really seemed to make sense to him. He went to all of his father’s matches and nothing could really blunt his love for quidditch, though his siblings certainly tried. They were close sure, but Cain could never quite get in between the bond that that twins had and he stopped trying early on. He loved them and would protect them at all costs, but he knew that he was an outside of sorts to them.
And then his eleventh birthday came around. He received his letter to Hogwarts and had the first real glimmer of hope of becoming a man much like his father. Upon arriving at Hogwarts he got sorted into Gryffindor and couldn’t have been more thrilled about it. There was nothing he really could have hoped for more other than sneaking his way onto the Gryffindor quidditch team a year early, which of course didn’t happen. It was his second year that he did make the team, as a chaser though. Because of his small size and speed on the broom, it came as second nature to him to whip in between beaters and other team members toward the goals. It also didn’t take him long to realize that he wasn’t the brightest person when it came to certain classes, especially potions. So Cain tends to work hard to make it through with passing marks, knowing that even now in his seventh year his parents would rip him a new one if he did badly in a course.

role play sample:Nikolai shuffled his way through the school slowly. It always seemed like when he came through here there was always some junior to pick on him. It always seemed as if they were the ones with the power around the place instead of seniors like him. Of course, the roof was the one place that he could be closest to the sky without having to be in one of the richer buildings downtown. Generally he couldn’t sneak into those places as it was and the school was actually pretty east to break into, especially if you had the practice. Even if he ran into anyone at this point he was pretty sure that he was just going to tell them to shove off. They’d just have to get over it because he wasn’t going to be stopped and he certainly wasn’t going to be told to go away.
There was more than one way out onto the roof but of course, Nikolai like to be complicated. His favorite way was the window, which led out onto the old fire escape. And this way it save him from having to break through another lock and climb up there. He stopped in front of it and looked down the hall he had just walked through. There wasn’t any one around to give him hell and a grin lifted the corners of his lips. Nicky unlocked the window’s latch before he pushed it open. Worse that would happen to him tonight was him getting locked out on the roof and honestly that wouldn’t be all that bad if it didn’t rain. But his luck was that it would rain if he got locked outside. A slight frown settled over his features but he shrugged and climbed out the window any way.
The roof sloped downward here and there was a shocking scene of greenery and hard ground below that would crush him no doubt if he fell. He wasn’t even sure that he would be able to grab onto anything on the way down to try to lessen the blow or stop it completely. Of course, if he fell he was sure as hell going to test it out because he had no desire falling all that way without it. His body was far too frail and he knew it all too well. A soft sigh slipped through his lips as he edged along the roof until he got to the spot that dropped down and then evened out enough where it could actually almost be considered flat.
Nikolai slid the few feet down the slope to the flattest part of the roof. He grinned broadly at himself before he slowly knelt down and then laid back. He stretched with his arms over head for a moment, giving a tiny moan as he did so before he released and relaxed his muscles. Nicky let out a content sigh and looked up at the sky. Stars. There was nothing better than laying up here at night and just drifting while you stared at the stars. And this was one of the few places in the entire city he’d be able to find that stars were visible. Usually you had to go further out but here you could catch a few here and there. It was pleasant and actually quite enjoyable.
Nicky shifted and dug around in his pockets for a moment before he produced a pack of cigarettes. The pack was crinkled and sort of smashed but the lighter and cigarette he pushed out of the empty pack were almost perfect. He placed the cigarette against his lips and quickly flicked his lighter to life. He inhaled as he held the flame to the tip, and smoke rolled out of his mouth as the end of the cigarette flared to the life. He shoved the lighter pack into the pack and then stuffed the pack back into his pocket, inhaling occasionally on the death at his lips.
