Hogwarts. Home. Weren't they the same thing? That was how it was in Victoire's mind. The entire break she felt homesick, and useless, like she was on a never ending vacation that was horrible, and not one ounce thrilling. A trip that she wanted to leave just so she could go back to her real life, where her friends were, and her ideal place to live. Hogwarts was home to many people, especially Victoire. It wasn't that her life at home was by any means horrible- she had so much family, but by the second month Victoire was ready for a new adventure. So despite the fact that she would miss everyone, she asked her mother to let her go to France- to visit family but mostly to have a story of her own. She'd been gone for most of the last bit of summer, only coming up a week or so ago. Having been gone for so long, Victoire figured it would be in good fun to catch up with the life she'd wildly abandoned. That's why the blonde walked through the streets of Diagon Alley, with a smile wide across her face, that not even the worst day could wipe clean off her face. She was one step closer to Hogwarts, and she liked the feeling.
That bright, one-in-a-million, smile was equipped with her tanner complexion from her vacation to her mother's old home in France. The first few days of that trip was brought with sunburn, but after that the seventeen year old found her tanning roots, which was much different then her normally pale complexion. Her height had also changed, instead of her normal five foot three self, she now stood two inches taller, a proud accomplishment in Victoire's mind. Her hair was lighter from the constant sunlight of her trip, and set in loose curls for her day out on the 'town.' Her outfit choice consisted on her favorite garment, a sun dress; one of a darker mahogany colored ones, and a little white sweater was draped over her shoulders just in case Diagon Alley welcomed her back with a wonderful rainstorm. Her feet were graced with little white sandals, and a small bag was in her hand for the money she needed for her school expenses. As she walked the crowded streets, she kept her mind on her reason being here (school shopping), but her eyes were also open for the other reason she was here, the real reason. Victoire was hoping to run into everyone. Since her trip she'd sent a few letters, and some fun things from France, but she hadn't seen anyone since she left and she missed them. She walked past the ice cream parlor and found herself in Madam Malkin's Robes. It wasn't exactly like the wonderful clothes in Paris, but it did hold the Gryffindor robes she needed to be refitted for for her final year.
Now that was a scary thought- her final year. Victoire Weasley tried to push the fact that she would only be doing all this one more time to the back of her mind. Hogwarts was her safe haven. Having been there for going on seven years, Victoire knew the place like the back of her hand. She knew most of its secrets and she had a decent amount of friends and family she would be leaving behind in a few short months. She hoped that by the time she made it to the end she wouldn't have such bitter feelings about leaving, that she would be ready to take on the world, but Victoire was a bit hesitant. She wasn't exactly a girl that enjoyed showing her fears but the idea of being completely on her own scared even the hard-shelled, slightly independent seventeen year old. She let out a soft sigh as she let a smile fall upon her lips, gave a wave to Madam Malkin herself, and began pulling through the robes on the rack.

Diagon Alley. It was one of the most populated places, other than the little places like Hogsmeade or Wizarding London. It was a place for getting regular clothing for Hogwarts or sometimes Quidditch wear, even for some outside of school clothes. What was particular today was that everyone was dashing around the whole alley, looking for the things they would need. Mostly first year parents rushing around to get their kids their newly items needed or it were seventh year parents, staying quiet because they knew it would be their last year at the school, but knew there were their siblings –if they had any –still there to stay. The brown eyed girl started walking around, her arms at her sides, plopping here and there. The locks were behind her shoulders, so that it stayed perfect. Penelope Dubois, otherwise known as Penny, was walking around this Alley. She had that grin that she always had on her face. She knew that her sister, Elise, was somewhere around getting her own items. It was horrible that she was a seventh year and leaving, but knew that it was just life. She strode down the street aimlessly, looking around and smiling at the people who grinned at her. It was cute seeing first years run around, excited that they were finally going to Hogwarts. It brought her back to when she was running around here, finally buying her books and robes, and not listening to Elise get all of the glory. It was her turn to have that glory. Those were the good days, for which that always brought a smile to her face. Those were never going to leave her, and she would tell her kids one day about the day she finally got her letter and got to walk around.
Penny found herself walking into stores, which were enough for her to carry her own things. Her mum and dad gave her money to go, seeing as they didn’t need to help their daughters anymore. So, Penny went into the book store, then around to the quill store. She really didn’t need more, but she could never have enough, just in case one decides to break or she runs out of ink. Just because she felt the need to reward herself for the partial shopping trip, she went into the ice cream parlor. They had at least her favorite flavor, French Vanilla with Strawberry mixed in. She ordered the cone, waited the five minutes, which weren’t really that long. She looked down at her own wardrobe. A skirt with ballet flats as her top was a nice shade of blue with a black blazer on. She loved her style, how it was different. It made her feel unique. After a minute, Penny was walking out of the parlor with her ice cream cone and with her newly bought items she would need. There were the occasional ‘hey Penny, how was your summer?’ questions. Or the ‘Where’s Elise?’ Truthfully, Penny believed that her sister was somewhere around here, but they weren’t together. Upsetting as it was, Penny finished her cone, throwing it into the trash and kept on walking. Inside her mind, she made a check list, thinking of where else she needed to go and what else she had to get. It clicked to her then, she needed her robes. So, Penny had to turn herself around again and head over to Madame Malkins. She was the only one with the robes, so she had no choice in there. All she had to do was remember what size she was.
Entering the store, she walked herself over to the front racks, finding some of the outfits she needed. Mostly the robes and the shirts. She still had her scarf, so she didn’t need one of those. Plus, she could also wear whatever she wanted during the weekend. To her, it felt like her first year here again, finding her robes, but she was now in her sixth year, and knew where to get things and everything else. Heading over to the next rack, a new smile turned up onto her face. There she was, her one best friend in the world, Victoire. They were both Veelas, so they understood everything and they were just great friends. She loved her to death, and being in Gryffindor, it made them closer than ever. Victoire! Oh it’s so great to see you! How was your summer? Penny asked, happy to see her friend.
