overall history:
Penelope Ann Carter was born to James Aaron Carter, and Carrie Ann Carter on January 22. She was her parents pride and joy, and after they had her they were sure they were going to have more. The young couple loved their new daughter, but something changed their mind for them pretty quick. James, and Carrie got their daughter home and couldn't have been happier. Everyday was like a gift to them because it had taken them so long to conceive and carry to term any child. The couple had tried before, and was pregnant a couple times before, but Carrie was described has having a 'hostile' uterus and it would be difficult, but not impossible to conceive a child, and carry it to term. Penny was the cutest baby or that's what her parents told her every day. She was either beautiful or cute or whatever word they wanted to use that day. Those were the easy times; when penny was a baby. It wasn't until she started to get older did it start getting worse for her parents.
Penny was an overall good kid. She did her chores, and hardly ever talked back, but there were times where she did go crazy with talking back. She was fairly easy to raise, but when she turned 8 all of their lives would change forever. Penny had been complaining of headaches for a long time. She would walk around with her hand on her head, and sometimes they were so bad that she was stuck in bed for days. It wasn't until they began coming everyday, and worse did James and Carrie decide to get a medical opinon on what they should do with the headaches. The carters were in no way prepared for what they were about to hear. After test after test they finally came to a conclusion on what was causing the headaches. It was a brain tumor. As soon as they told James and Carrie of course they were going to think the worse all they said was that their daughter had a brain tumor. They said that they had to do tests to see if it was a malignent tumor or not. It would take the doctors a month to come back to the family with that answer, and that answer was no. It was not cancerous, and the only thing that she would have to do is take some medicine to keep the tumor at a size that wouldn't cause her to have any brain problems. Still to this day she gets headaches, but she knew that would happen because the doctors said she would since she had something in her brain that isn't suppose to be there, but since it's smaller the headaches don't come as often.
After the crazy couple of years of dealing with the fact that she had a tumor her parents decided to drop the ball on Penny about who or rather what she was. Carrie sat Penny down, and explained to her that her family were witches and wizards. As far back as she could remember her family all went to wizarding schools. At first little Penny didn't understand anything her mother was telling her so instead of telling her Carrie decided that she would show her, and pulled out her wand. She did a couple simple spells and Penny was floored. As any child she wanted to try it, but her mother knew that she couldnt. After that moment Penny was more than ready to start going to school to learn how to do this 'magic' and she was going to do everything in her power to do that, but it came easier than she expected. On her eleventh birthday she recieved her letter.

role play sample:The school was just as uninspiring as she thought it was going to be. Dolly Jane Petrova was placed in the Slytherin house, but Dolly knew that she was already going to be put in that house. It’d be a mistake to place her in any other house. Tonight the school was hosting a ball, apparently called the ‘Snowball.’ Now Dolly wasn’t really interested in public gathering, but if she didn’t have to be stuck in this place for so long then she probably wouldn’t even go, but she had the perfect dress to wear, and it would be such a shame to let such a beautiful dress go to waste. Running a brush through her long jet black hair Dolly continued to stare at her reflection in the mirror. The thick black lipstick that covered her lips made her smile. Her style was unique to most other people, but to her it matches her personality oh so well. Dolly placed the brush down, and turned around to look at her bed. There on the bed was her dress. It was one that her mother had gotten her. It had been too big for her before now, and even now she didn’t know if it was going to fit, but she was going to try it.
After a few minutes of adjustments, and minor problems Dolly finally had her dress on. Taking a deep breath the girl walked in front of her mirror again, and looked at her reflection once again. The long elegant dress fit her perfectly. Dolly grabbed the bottom of the dress, and pulled it away from her legs slightly. The slit was a little longer than she liked it to be, but still it made her look pretty good if she did say so herself. With a small smile Dolly almost skipped back to her bed to sit down, and put on her shoes. The silver shoes weren’t a perfect match to the dress, but who would know? They matched well enough for her. Dolly sat down, and began to unbuckle, and buckle the shoes to her feet. The slytherin girl stood up, and looked at herself in the mirror once more before nodding in approval, and heading out the door.
Out in the Slytherin common room there were girls standing around chatting about where they bought their dresses, and the boys they were going with. The boys were standing around talking to each other as well, but not quite as loudly as the girls so Dolly had no idea what they were talking about, but the girl didn’t really care. Without paying attention to any of them Dolly walked straight through the common room, and out into the dungeons. Pulling her dress up a little so it wouldn’t drag on the dirty floor of the dungeons, Dolly picked up her pace so she could get out of the dungeons as quickly as possible. Very few things creeped Dolly out, but the dungeons were one of them she never could point out why, and she would definitely never let anyone know. A weakness is vulnerability, and Dolly never did well with that.
The walk to the ballroom wasn’t as long as she had expected it to be. She knew she wasn’t the only one that was going to the ball, but she wasn’t expecting to see this many people here. With a small shrug Dolly Jane began to walk through the small crowds of people making her way to the drinks. She was alright with spending some time alone, but she wasn’t going to stand here, and drink alone the entire night. She figured she could make an appearance and then leave. As much as she probably stood out everyone else was so caught up in all of their own conversations that Dolly wasn’t really expecting anyone to take notice to her. Which was completely alright with her.
