Night. Those brief six hours between dinner and 1am that called out to most students in the castle. It was those six hours that Alden had learned to love and cherish over the years, finding them the perfect way to let go a bit and help keep him mildly sane during the school day. Tonight though was a school night, meaning the usual crowd of Slytherin students that liked to hang in the common room just before their bout of fun had already left to seize those precious moments before they had to turn into bed. Alden though, was not one of those students. No. Dear 'ol Al stayed by himself up in his dorm room, his arms beneath his head as he laid on his four post cot, staring up at the cloth that covered the roof of the bed. Lestrange had tried to get him to come out, but for some reason, Al just didn't feel like it. As much as he hated to say it, he was getting a bit burned out on the whole thing.
An hour passed with the boy still laying in his cot before he finally decided to at least get up and get out of his school clothes. Robes came off, shirt untucked, tie fell to the floor. Before he realized it he was pulling on a white shirt to match the black sweatpants he had chose to accompany him to bed, but bed for him would still be awhile. He wasn't much of a sleeper, only closing his eyes when he was passed out drunk or extremely exhausted from several long nights in a row. No, sleep was for the weak, and Al was far from weak.
Instead of heading back to bed and being bored, Al ventured out the door and down the stone steps slowly until he made his way into the common room. The fire was still lit in the fireplace, and on the table were numerous books, all spread out to someones liking. "Hyp?" Al called out as he stated walking around toward the couch. "I swear if that's you, you need to find a better place to-..oh?" He quit mid-statment as his blue eyes caught the figure of Kimberly Greyback, a Sixth year who seemed to have a thing for books. "Terribly sorry, luv. Thought you were someone else." Alden spoke up, scratching the back of his head a bit awkwardly.

Kimberly would like to think that she was social with her peers but she knew that she actually wasn't. It wasn't like she acted cold or distant but she guessed her aurora or whatever told some people to stay away, that she might be dangerous. Or maybe that was her werewolf half? Either way Kimmy talked with her small group of friends and they were from all houses. Even though she had more from Slytherin just because of how often she was around them. But once someone got to know Kim they would see that she had a very childlike attitude toward life. Everything amazed her and she loved to do crazy things. Climbing trees were one of her favorite activities just because most people didn't expect to find someone up in a tree. Kimmy also had the mindset that she was fearless, like most littler kids were when they thought nothing could hurt them. Kim would do stupid things and would worry about everything else, including her health, later.
Hearing a male voice call out for Hyp made Kim pick up her head. Usually that would mean nothing to her but that certain young man just happened to ask her to the Valentine's Day Ball not too long ago. She didn't even know why she agreed seeing she hated dances like this especially one for Valentine's Day. She loved Halloween Dances though, just because she got to dress up and not as a princess. "I believe my hair is a bit darker than Hyp's." Kim said looking up from her book to meet the guy who she always thought was Hyp's best friend. She always saw the two around each other and if both didn't have such a reputation for being players she would have thought they were dating. "And your fine, I was just finishing up. Well almost." Kim said motioning her head to the table where she had three more books stacked. Something that she could almost get done in less than two hours. The most difficult part for Kimmy was turning the pages.
Kimberly actually read a page or two of the book, slowly, before she went back to her way of reading. If she could get this chapter done then she would chat with the young man if he wanted too. The chapter took her no time to finish and she closed the book, remembering the page number. "Alden Selwyn, right?" She asked just to be polite but she knew he was. Kim actually had most of Hogwarts memorized by now except for maybe a few first year students. "Isn't it passed your bedtime?" She asked a smirk playing at the corner of her lips. It was normal for her to be up. Wolves were nocturnal animals and Kimmy guessed that was just another trait she had from them.

Kim peeked her head up from the couch, causing Al to smile slightly as she did. "Well that is is." He replied in regards to her comment about her hair. It was a bit of a surprise to him that she mentioned Hyp. He had noticed over the brief years that she wasn't a social butterfly, but still had her chats with all the other houses a like, something that Al could never really do unless he wasn't sober. Still, the thought did occur that he had told Hyp to go after her in regards to the Valentines Dance that was just around the corner for the students, and he quickly made the connection after the fact. As Al made his way around the couch and towards a chair just opposite of her, Kim added on. "Well don't let me be a burden then. I just needed a change of scenery." He replied, going to the chair and taking a seat.
The room fell silent as the girl went back to her book. Alden wiggled a bit in the chair, trying to get the cushion to go back down to a comfortable level before leaning over with his hands on his knees and head tucked down a bit. Thoughts raced through his head at that moment. Here he was with a random girl alone in a deserted common room. All that was needed were a few drinks and some smooth talking on his part and the rest could take care of itself. No. He straightened up again and looked over to the fireplace. He couldn't do that to Hyp. They had always agreed to go after anyone else but the other's current fling. Still, they never did agree that a little messing about couldn't happen right?
At the conclusion of that thought, the girl spoke up again, questioning who he was. "Correct." He replied, shifting his gaze towards her. "And you must be the enchanting Kimberly Greyback, right?" He added with a grin before reaching up underneath the curtain that hung below the seem of the chair. His hand searched as she went on talking. "Well if you count midnight as my bedtime, then no luv." Alden replied, pulling out a bottle of firewiskey that Hyp had stashed under there for him for use when needed. "I'm more of a night owl, as I assume you are judging by the...light reading." He went on, taking out his wand and changing two of the chess pieces on the game board beside him into glasses before pouring half a glass of the amber liquid into each. "Care to drink?" He offered, leaning over and setting one of the glasses on the table in front of her before taking his own and leaning back in the chair once again and taking a swig from it.
"So tell me Kim, what's with the books? Failing class or something?"

Kimberly just shook her head slightly when Alden did indeed see that her hair was darker than Hyperion's. It wasn't like she had to know Lestrange that well in order to know his hair was blonde. More girls talked about him than he probably wanted to know about. Plus he was a part of the Lestrange family, a family that was aligned with the death eaters just like her father was. She was actually somewhat surprised Alden didn't bring up the Ball since Kimmy was going with his best friend. Usually guys told their friends which girl they were taking to a dance, right? "I just had to finish a chapter, I'm done now." Kim told him looking up at him smiling. He was good enough company. For the most past she never really showed off her gift of having a photographic memory. It brought along too many questions and people quizzing her to see if she did indeed have a photographic memory.
Of course Kim was right about his name. She could also probably tell someone what he had to eat during his meals because most students did eat at the same time. Little things she was able to pick up and remember when most people would forget them. "I wouldn't say enchanting but yes that is me. But feel free to call me Kim or Kimmy." Kimmy told Alden looking up at him smiling. She watched as his hand reached behind the curtain. She was rather curious on what he was bringing out and a smile went across her lips as he grabbed a bottle of firewhiskey. "I'll have to remember that hiding spot." she told him knowing that even if she wanted too she wouldn't be able to forget it. That would be something nice to drink when she was down here alone most nights. "Yeah some light reading. I've heard it supposed to make you sleepy. Hasn't made me sleepy yet." Kim said reaching for the glass once he poured her a drink. "And I would love a drink." She told him taking a sip of the whiskey, which burned her throat. Kimberly hated girly drinks, she was definitely a whiskey girl.
She put the drink on the table so she didn't spill it over the cushions. At his comment about her failing class she let out a light laugh. Failing class, oh how she wished she could be a normal student like that. Kimberley moved the cushion more underneath her chin and chest so she wasn't laying completely down and could look at Alden while they were talking. It would be rude if she looked away. "Actually I'm doing pretty decent in all my classes. I was just bored. But I forgot that books bore me." This was true, since she was able to read books so fast there was no entertainment from them anymore. "How about you, Alden? Failing any classes?" Kim asked just keeping up with the conversation. Again she reached over, took her cup and took a long sip. Kimmy looked back up at Alden waiting for his answer, surely all Slytherins weren't smart.

Kim shook her head lightly after his comment, causing Al to chuckle slightly. He couldn't really help it. Al was notorious for not remembering girl's hair color, let alone their names unless they were from Slytherin or one of the Weasleys that he bumped into while strolling down the halls. For all he knew, her hair could have been blonde in the dim lit room, but the way it still retained it's dark nature even in the fire light gave off the obvious. No matter now though. Hair color was never important when it came to him, oh no. Blood was all that mattered in his game, and if you had the right type coursing through your veins, you and him would hit it off great. If not, then you'd either become an object or just a footnote in his long history, only to be called upon in desperate times. The girl spoke up again, telling him she was finished with her reading. "Splendid"He said simply, taking another shallow swig from the glass he held in his hand.
"Oh well I most certainly would." Alden replied in regards to his half heart-ed compliment thrown before her name. "Kim will do just fine I imagine. You can either call me Al or Ollie, which ever sits better on your tongue." He went on, exchanging familiar introductions before pressing on with the conversation. Kim went on, suggesting that she would remember the hiding spot later on down the road. "Well I must warn you it changes daily." He replied, "But, I could make an exception to the rule." He finished with a wink thrown in her direction and a sharp chuckle escaping his throat. Al listened intently as she went on about her reading, taking a sip while he listened. "I think the only book that causes my head to fall down would be my charms book." He spoke, "Oh how I loathe that class." He rolled his eyes a bit on the subject. He wasn't bad at charms, just found the class useless in terms of teaching, but then again that did reflect on his grades causing Hyp to take up his essays in exchange for potion help.
The topic changed to failing class, and Kim laughed slightly at the topic, suggesting that she must be of the bright bunch here at this school. There was no problem with intelligence, Al find it rather nice if a person had it. It was abusing it that normally ticked him off and caused him to hex all the nosy book worms in class. "Well books aren't all that bad." Alden replied, knowing well that it was the truth. He chuckled a bit through another swig as she returned the question. "Nah. Just a struggle in Charms, though it's nothing I can't handle. I just find the class useless is all." He could go on all night about that class, bringing up a fairly good list of why charms should no longer be required after third year, but doing so might bore the poor girl, and of course that's not what he wanted here.
"So tell me, Kim." Al spoke up, going a head and topping off their glasses while he did so. "What are you all about? I don't know much on you which is strange, but then again I am a busy fellow."

The girl questioned the second nickname and the boy couldn't help but chuckle a bit, taking his finger and running it over the edge of the glass while he replied. "It's from me middle name." Alden spoke. "My middle name is Oliver, and an old friend of mine found out and called me Ollie ever since." He finished, half telling the truth. As his eyes peered into the brown liquid that sat in the glass, thoughts about what had really happened raced through his mind. Third year, the year he actually had a decent relationship. He wasn't flirting with every girl, or running about chasing after everything that could shake it's ass in a particular manner. No. Love. He was on the verge of it, or well damn near over the edge though he'd never admit it now. Yes, a girl started that nickname, and he loved it, just like he had begun to love her. Of course though, all good things must end, and that ended a bit sour. He sighed to himself, and knocked back the glass against his lip, draining the contents in one swoop to drown the thoughts before the could reappear.
Al chuckled a bit as he poured himself another glass, now beginning to feel slightly more awake than before while listening to Kim speak. "Ah, clever are we? That's never a bad thing." He replied, sitting the bottle back into place before leaning back into the chair once again and drawing his legs up into the chair, sitting them cross ways like an indian. She went on about charms class, which bugged him a bit. Not in a bad way, but in a way that he really wish he had that list about him right then and there. "If something comes up, I'll bring it to you. Always helps having a second pair of eyes." He said with a chuckle before taking another sip.
Kim asked a rather odd question, causing Al to look up momentarily in thought. "Ummm..." He began, half doing calculations in his head and half wondering what that dot was up on the ceiling. "I'd say maybe a day me'self, granted I read the book in all me classes instead of just one." He replied, lowering his head back down to look over at the girl. "Why? Got some kind'a super genius trait you are hiding from the world/" He added with a chuckle and grin. If she did hold some sort of super genius trait, all the more props to her. Alden was no where near genius level in book smarts, but under-handing and thievery were some of his more dominate traits. Still, he could hold up well in school, granted that he actually try and not just half ass everything that was thrown his way.
Kim spoke up, relaying information about herself to him. Werewolf, shadowy type, and smart were all the cared to remember coming out of her mouth. Werewolf...that could come in handy one night. "Well I didn't assume you were one. I know the trait can skip a generation at times, given the circumstances of the family history." Alden replied right before taking another sip of his drink. "Everything, eh/" He said with a smirk. "I doubt you do everything." Now this is where the tables could possibly turn, given that he plays the right cards.

As Kim listened to Alden tell her about how he got his second nickname, her eyes darted around the room looking for something to grab her attention. Sure Alden was interesting to listen to she just had a short attention span. And it wasn't like she wasn't listening to him. Just looking around the room taking small sips of her drink. "Then I'll probably call you Ollie. Too many people go by Al." Kim said giving Alden a smile. "My middle name is too short for any nickname to come from it. Ann. It's rather boring." It was true Kimmy thought that her name was definitely too plain for someone who was so adventurous. However she did like the shorter versions of Kimberly especially Kimmy. Her brother called her Kimbo sometimes but she only allowed him to call her that. The reason why Kim didn't bring up that she called Albus Al was because she didn't know yet what kind of Slytherin Alden was yet. Didn't know if he was one of those pureblood kids. However knowing what she did about Alden, she was pretty sure he did care about blood lines.
"Just a little bit clever," Kimberly said laughing while bringing the glass up to her lips to take another sip. She liked the word clever. It described her so much better than intelligent. Since she guessed most people worked toward intelligence. Not meaning too Kimmy went and copied the position Ollie was sitting in. She sat up and crossed her legs, sitting Indian style like he was. She kept the pillow she had in her lap, resting her drink on top of it but held it not wanting it to spill. "Yeah, if you have any problems I'm sure I could help out." When those words left Kim's lips she didn't know what she was referring too. She had meant the homework the whole conversation but now she wasn't sure if she was trying to flirt with him. Kim looked down at her drink knowing she didn't drink that much and that she wasn't a lightweight. She shook her head lightly, just trying to get her thoughts straight. Kimmy didn't want to be that girl.
One day. For someone who despised the class. Kim could never imagine taking that long to read a book. It would be such a waste of time. And time was definitely precious. Kimberley knew that it was a rather odd question to ask. Who in their right mind would ask how long it takes to read a book? At his comment about a super genius trait made her laugh. "Maybe, but if I do a good super genius would never admit it." She said with a smirk on her face. "But it could also be a super, evil, genius trait. The world will never know." Like Kim said before she liked staying in the shadows and not letting anyone know much about her. That wasn't going to change just because Alden was a charmer and was putting alcohol in her system.
Skip a generation? Alden did realize who her father was, correct? Fenrir Greyback would never let any of his children be just a witch or wizard. "You obviously have not heard of my father. If I was born 'normal' he would have bitten me probably in infancy changing me. I'm only half werewolf, I can control myself during a full moon." Kim explained to him not embarrassed at all about her werewolf half. In fact she loved telling people about it. She loved her wolf form. "I do," Kimberly told him smiling taking a longer sip of her drink. "I could do anything. And I will." She said somewhat challenging him. Kim loved thinking that she was fearless.
