[from another board]
Taking another sip of her hot chocolate Katie looked at the bright flames in the fireplace. Fire always seemed to calm her down when she felt on edge or simply had to think things through. It was weird how something so unstable and destructive itself had the power to captivate her so much. She looked away from the flames for a bit glancing out of the green tainted window. She drank the last of the chocolate before leaning forward and setting the now empty cup on the low wooden table. Looking outside once more she couldn’t help but wonder where Arthur was hanging out at the moment. Part of her wanted to send him an owl or at least go look for him but she didn’t want to seem too clingy. She wanted to give him some freedom, especially after what she had done to him just a while ago.
She shivered as she remembered everything. It wasn’t that Jack had been bad, quite the opposite actually. It just felt wrong to allow herself to think about it. She closed her eyes and got up throwing the blanket that had been covering her aside letting it fall on the other couch. She needed some fresh air to clear her mind. Stepping towards the door she took hold of the handle and pulled it open. Feeling the cold hit her already she let it go and turned around running up to her dorm. If she was going to get some fresh air she might as well go get her sweater, no need to freeze her butt of.
She returned just minutes later wearing a thick black sweater. Making her way over to the door again she opened it making her way up the stairs and out of the castle, into the cold night air. Well it wasn’t really night yet, just shimmering. Twilight, the ending of yet another day. She watched the sun set for a while before starting to walk again. It scared her how fast time seemed to go lately. Days flew by and everything just went so fast. She didn’t have time for anything and still it felt like she was really doing nothing at all. She had lost count of all the essays she still had to write and honestly just thinking about it made her feel all depressed.
She looked up suddenly having completely lost track of her surroundings. The sky had turned darker and while looking up at it she noticed something move in the corner of her eye. She yelped surprised and jumped back before seeing what had caused the movement. In the time she had been lost in thoughts she had found her way to one of the most valuable trees on the grounds. The whomping willow. She took another few steps forward so she was just out of it’s reach before sitting down, looking at the branches moving. She allowed her thoughts to drift off again her hand resting on her stomach without really realizing it. She turned her head slightly, hearing the crunching sound of the leaves and looked for the source of the sound. Not a lot of people were out this late anyway. She could make out the shape of a person but pretty much immediately realized who it was, Potter’s youngest daughter. She bit her lip and moved a hand through her hair.
